Special Hazard Systems
Special hazard systems are fire suppression systems designed to protect any facility containing high value assets from irreparable damage. Facilities that would be best suited to install a special hazard system are control rooms, data processing centres, medical facilities, etc. A variety of special hazard fire suppression systems are available; options include water or foam deluge sprinkler systems, or other waterless sprinkler systems are available that utilize inert chemicals or gases, such as FM-200 or CO2 to distinguish a fire.
Water or foam deluge sprinkler systems will release water or foam through the open sprinkler head, nozzle or foam generator. A deluge sprinkler system is connected to the water supply through a deluge valve that is opened by the operation of a smoke or heat detection system. The deluge valve prevents water or foam from flowing through the piping system until prompted. Waterless systems such as FM-200 or CO2 will automatically release the chemical or gas when a fire has been detected.
